The valedictory ceremony for Hackathon 2020 was conducted by the Department of Data Science in collaboration with Qubit.AI on December 10th from 12:15 to 1:30 PM.
The event began with a welcome address by Dr Samiksha Shukla, Head of the Department of Data Science. The Director, faculty members, The chief guest and all the students were cordially welcomed to the event. She emphasized the importance of the event and congratulated all the students who tried and gave their 100%. She also mentioned that the participation and enthusiasm was amazing.
Fr. Dr Jossy P George delivered an inaugural talk mentioning that Hackathons always give an opportunity for the students to get a feel of the industry. He also congratulated the department for successfully completing the event and ended his talk with the note ‘Dear Christites march on’.
Mr. Naveen Kolli, Vice president, Business Development, Quibit.AI, gave his felicitations. He welcomed all students to continue working on the DLTK platform. He was happy to be part of the Hackathon and asked all the participants to keep modifying their solutions, so that they can participate and submit their solutions for a bigger challenge, which is to be organized by Quibit, where 3 other universities are also taking part.
Professor Mr K.T.Thomas, the faculty coordinator for the Hackathon 2020, gave the gathering a brief description of what was happening on the 10 days of Hackathon from 2nd December to 12th December. Activities like the boot camp, the team formation, Announcement of the challenge, mentoring & doubt clearance sessions, communicating in gitter community, review & evaluation were briefly explained. He indicated that 80 students participated in 19 different teams.
Professor Mr Akhil M Nair announced the three teams who obtained the top positions. He also specially mentioned that it was a great achievement for all the participating teams.
All the three teams presented their projects before the gathering, they were all very interesting.
The vote of thanks was delivered by student coordinator Shraddha Joshi (MSc DS-1), she thanked father Director, HOD, Chief Guest, the judges, the Coordinator, all the faculty members and students.
All attendees stood up for the Christ Anthem which marked the end of the event. The Director, The Chief Guest, 8 Teachers and 95 students participated in the valedictory ceremony.
